Writing #1: Introduce yourself (due Friday, January 24)

Today each of you briefly introduced yourselves to the class. Now I would like you to tell us some more about yourself in writing.

Here are some questions to consider:

Where are you in life (meaning, what stage)? Did you finish high school? College? Graduate school? Are you single or married? Do you have kids?

Talk about your background, and your professional and personal aspirations. Also, discuss your interests, hobbies, and talents. Tell us something about yourself that makes you unique. Feel free to add anything else that you would like to share about yourself with the class.

You should post your writing as a comment to this post. Just click on comment.

This is writing PRACTICE. It does not have to be perfect.

  10. Hi, this is Haw Tzou from Taiwan. I was born in Kaohsiung, the largest city in south Taiwan, where is built based on its harbor and industry. I have finish my prime school and secondary school in Kaohsiung; then I came to Tainan, one of the oldest city in Taiwan, to finish my undergraduate study of Earth Science at National Cheng Kung University. After graduating from college, I serviced in Army Special Force as a parachutist as a compulsory soldier. The only thing I remember is endless physical training. By this experience, I became much stronger than I was a student.
Then, I came to U.S. on August 2013. I plan to advance my study on geophysics field. This is my ultimate reason I came to American where is the most developed academic environment in the world.
I love outdoor activities, for example, hiking, mountaineering, swimming, climbing, canyoning....etc. I always need something exciting to balance my indoor life; however, I believe a true adventure doesn't need to be challenge or dangerous. Visiting a new place, walking without trail, and swimming in a open water are needed lots of courage; therefore, I believe it is very to find an adventure here.

  11. Hi everyone, I'm Chi. I'm 23 and I'm from Vietnam, an Asian country. I graduated from university last September, my major is Business Administration.
I've just been here, in Houston, for nearly a month. So this is also my first semester in LCC.
I'm going to apply for the master course in Human Resource Management.
I hope that after this semester, I can get used to academic English as well as the working/ learning style of American, so that I can be well-prepared for my graduate program. Plus, I'd love to take this chance to make friends and learn more about other cultures.
I have soft voice, and sometimes that makes it hard for people to follow what I'm talking. I'm really sorry about that. I'll work on it more. So please tell me to turn up my volume if you can't clearly hear what I say. It would be a great help for me :)
I love music and novels. Most of the books I've read was in romance, fantasy, historical and Westerns genre. But don't ask me about the content, I have short-term memory so I don't remember many details of every book I read :) What I really enjoy about reading is the feeling of getting lost into another one's story, like you're travelling to a brand new world.

    Nice to meet you all!
