Listening #2: The 3 A's of Awesome (due Tuesday, February 4)

Listen to the following TED talk. After listening, all you have to do is post a comment responding to something he said that "spoke" to you.

  1. There's a point in his speech that touched me more than others, when he says that his life was getting perfect; he got married with a beautiful lady, he was having fun with friends and so on. Suddenly, everything he had thought before as being his pillar of life has just collapsed and he was in the hole of nothing.
Indeed, all those situations were his bridge to get his wellness again. Then, he noticed that needed to read positive things and to find it in simple things. So that in this circumstances he had created his blog and for his surprise it begun to be a success. One day, a person had called and invited him for talking his experience in public, whatever happened he got his tipping point, when things has just begun to change in his life. Negative situations has just turned in positive experience.
Finally, according to his experience three things can make difference in our lives: We need Attitude to move forward, Awareness to be willing to do things for the first time and Authenticity for being ourselves despite the others opinion.
To sum up, keep calm and never look back when you faced bad times!!!!!!

    2. Evangelos, thanks! I'm glad that you like, you are so kind! However, reviewing my text I could write a bit better. You know, receiving that award was a surprise for me since there are so many brilliant students, and you are one of them!

  2. His story was so moving and what really spoke to me is that "enjoy the little things you only got 100 years" now that's a thing everybody knows but it sounds so meaningful and scary when you say it out loud and think about it.

  3. Life always has high and low. Nobody can be successful forever, also loser won't be an eternal loser. It depends on how you face your life, my teachers always tell us that attitude decides your altitude and impossible is nothing. So, everyone should use positive way to face our life.

  4. This short video describes how life goes, sometimes life lift you up, and sometimes life bring you down, but you should always know that despite what situation you are in, life will change, there is always a peak for everything, good or bad, and you should do your best and stay mentally strong to fight your way through life, because it wouldn`t be easy.
and the last but not least, you should appreciate everything you have, because even the tiny things in life are blessing you have even if you do not notice them.

  5. The thing that spoke to me the most is how some of us taking life for granted.it exactly what happened to him!he said how his life was perfect: a happy childhood ,success in studies, got a job and got married.Suddenly he lost everything and faced hard moments. Finally he realized that the way to be happy is to think positively and live by appreciating small simple things of life.I totally agree with him!The greatest question we should ask ourselves is what is the most important thing in life.Of course it is not easy to find an answer for that but we should start by changing our vision of life.Concretely the idea is to adopt a vision on the life which makes it possible to identify the factors of happiness because most people focus themselves on the negative things which happen to them.To be positive is the true challenge of the life.

  6. This is so much of an inspiring talk. I like the way he used his own experiences to illustrate 3 essential things to be awesome: attitude, awareness, and authenticity. However, the part that "spoke" to me the most was when he talked about authenticity. It was very different. I mean people talk about being yourself, following your heart, blah blah blah everyday. Meanwhile, in this talk, he said authenticity was about being you and being cool with that.
I have seen many of my friends who couldn't find the way to integrate with the community. They ended up isolating themselves, acting out of the way, and excusing it for being unique. They said they didn't care what people thought, but actually, all I could feel from their situations was just the need to be accepted.
That's why I think what the speaker said was absolutely true! Being yourself is good. But only when you are cool with that, you can be "authenticity" and be happy with everything you do.

  7. I believe it is a interesting topic that permit us to think about our own life. Everything the speaker said is truth specially the three A's attitude, awareness, and authenticity. Nevertheless, the part that "spoke" to me was the attitude. We always should have positive and optimistic attitude to face all situations in our life. Even thought you are in the worst moment in your life, you can get advantage of it and achieve success. In this world everything happens for a reason and whether it improves or decline. The life is full of ups and downs all depends on the attitude you take towards your problems.

  8. I really enjoyed this video. Being far away from my home, I've started to appreciate so many things from my family and friends that sometimes I don't believe it. We are always so busy for enjoying the life. We just focus on bad things forgetting the pleasure of the smaller details.

  9. I think he inspired peole to live with satisfaction. Being respected everthing what we have in life because there is only 100 years to show up our life. Moreover, I was interested when he defined attitude , awareness and authenticity. He gave more details about awareness of a 3 year child. The way that the child see the world, everything is strange and new. In addition, he "spoke" to me that I should follow to the leead of my heart, show respect to my family and friends, do whatever I want to enjoy. Last but not least, do not waste time, being aware and satisfy are the best way of life.

  11. It was such a good talk that I started searching on the web about his blog and book, and I found some interesting stuff. There must be more valuable information in the book explaining his point better. I'm agree with the three components of the principle of the 3 A's; but especially, with the awareness. Aware of the world, everybody could have small, but meaningful moments. Obviously, the attitude and the authenticity are important too. Everybody's day depends on the attitude you have. As he said, everyone has two choices and should choose the one leaded to a happy and bright future. Finally, being you is being authentic and it makes you "follow your heart", what you want and deserve.

  12. I couldn't agree more with Neil Pasricha.Life can't be cruel and unfair and change overnight but the most important is how to react to make our life easier. It's up to us to keep fighting against the hazards of life which means adopt an appropriate behavior towards adversity.Neil Parisha got divorced, lost his best friend and the world around him was falling apart. However,he took the decision to move on,give to himself a new chance to smile again and appreciate what life could offer. That was the first step he called ATTITUDE:the way you have to react when you're faced to difficulties in your life, just start over.Be AWARE of your chance to be alive and enjoy every single day, rediscover life's simplest things like it was the first time, just like children do.Be authentic. In other words, don't hide who you really are, what you love, accept yourself.
Life is too short and so beautiful to be miserable.

  13. Life is just a minute. Live every moment with intensity and without regrets because even mistakes are a new experience to learn from. The fact that Neil Pasricha wanted to trasmit his experiences and knowledge to the rest of the people is what spoke to me. Sometimes we are worried about so many things that we don't enjoy the simple things in life.

  14. After watching this video, I stopped to think about the things we have, and for some reason we take it from granted. Sometimes you don't have to experience bad things in order to take advantage of what you already have. People nowadays are so concerned about insignificant things that they get distracted of their initial point easily, and end up living the" 100 years" without even knowing the wonderful things which life has to offer. His words were honest and based on it, I have realized that little things can also be considered as big things. You don't need to follow his idea of awesomeness, you can come up with your own principles, and stop taking things for granted.
Life is hard enough by herself, you don't need to make it worst. Be thankful for all you have and enjoy it.

  15. actually in some points my eyes was about to tear but I told them to stop in this stupid emotional, highly effective and histrionic more civilized people talk show. it is good news that he recognized the life value, although, he explained and tried to get rid of in the wrong way. the problem is that we try to be happy in all situations, why, does not sound stupid? the human-being is a part of the universe and this creature does not have a right to dismay the harmony of the nature. do you think that all other emotions or feelings were given or added to your nature for nothing. so, why just happy! it is no use crying after messing up everything. how we can be such a selfish creature and start to think just 100 years of our life.

  16. After listening, I started thinking the great things that sometimes we didn’t pay attention to. I could identify myself with one of the stories he told. I have experienced the same as his dad when he went to a different country at his 20s. I can relate because I was also shock with all the wonderful things that you can see here in the United States. Coming to Houston was a big change in my life and I had to collect a lot of courage to come and like it was mention in the TED Talk I had to have those 3 A’s to live here. A great attitude, being aware of everything and doing what you love and don’t being scare of being authentic.

  17. I am sorry for my belated response. Personally I believe that this lectures is an inspiring life story which can motivate is to have a different reaction from our bad moments in life.Life is know to be like a roller coaster because sometimes it goes up and sometimes it goes down

  18. And what make the big difference is how you faced the bad moments in life and even in a bad moment there is a positive side.

  19. A awesome life's secret was summarized today in only 3 words: Attitude, Awareness and Authenticity. In fact, we should enjoy every single moment in our short life going after things that we want for us and we are really interested in. It's important to remember that our memories will remain memories and will never come back.
